God gave us all talents, ours was to sing

MORE:
Dear friends:
After much prayer and supplication, we wanted to tell our friends that the Providentials Quartet will not tour in 2010. We have had a great year in 2009 and truly have had eleven good years on the road. Malachi 3:6 tells us that "for I am the Lord, I change not". Daniel 2:21 provides "And He changeth the times and the seasons." There is even a more detailed guidance in the third chapter of Ecclesiastes. "To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven". In the last decade the Providentials have seen the seasons change.
Many of you will ask why? The simplest answer is that the Lord is moving in our lives in some pretty incredible ways personally, in our churches, and professionally. Those changes along with the constant and dramatic changing landscape of southern gospel music and church music in general were all factors.
While we are saddened that we will not be meeting you - our friends - at concerts, in your Churches and homes; we are excited about the ways the Lord will use us. The comradery the quartet shared over countless hours on the bus will be missed. Many weeks the Providentials spent more time with each other that we did with our families. We have been blessed by God to serve with Godly men. 1st Corinthians 16:9 provides that "For a wide door for effective service has opened for me, and there are adversaries." Each of us will continue to serve the Lord in music and in other ways ever watching and battling the tempter.
We wish we could have told each of you individually; however, there was just no practical way to perform that task. There are no words big enough to say thank you to all of you who have attended our concerts, prayed for us, booked us, fed us, and shown the love of Christ in so many ways.
We hope to see as many of our friends as possible during these final concerts.
Keep Looking Up!

PROVIDENTIALS ANNOUNCE 7th ANNUAL
HOMECOMING SINGING
McComb, MS (Press Release)- The Providentials announced plans for the 7th Annual Providentials Homecoming with special guests "New Ground" an award winning top charting trio from Scottsboro, Alabama on Saturday October 24, 2009 beginning at 6:00 P.M. at the spacious Southwest Mississippi Community College Auditorium in Summit, Mississippi.
The evening will begin at 6:00 p.m. with prayer and singing of the National Anthem by independent country gospel artist Melanie Rainwater, from Denham Springs, Louisiana. Pike County’s own Brandon Andrews will perform next. The Providentials Quartet of McComb, Mississippi will take the singing stage followed by New Ground. After each artists stand, the second half will feature a combined New Ground and Providentials live band. Lead singer and spokesmen for the Providentials, Joe Young explained, "we have had the privilege to work with Robbi Maxwell, Dale Maxwell and David Owens, who make up New Ground, on several occasions and have been impressed with their music, their heart for Christ and their musicianship."
Young continued, "We sang with New Ground about the time their mega hit "Not in Million Years" hit the Top 10 in the Singing News Top 80 Chart. New Ground connected with the audience in a special way that night. Later we were jamming some backstage and ended up closing the concert singing old favorites with just some acoustic instruments. When they announced late last year that they would be traveling with a live band we jumped at the opportunity to book New Ground, formerly of the Eddie Crook Company."
Playing the instruments for New Ground are Mickey Bell, piano; Taylor Guffey, drums; and Dale Maxwell, bass guitar. Young stated "We heard the request of our fans loud and clear. We have been overwhelmed with live music requests." In addition to the New Ground musicians, Providential sound engineer and road manager Reggie Duncan will play steel guitar. In addition to traveling with the Providentials, Duncan is the owner of Highway 44 Records and an in demand studio musician.
The Providentials Quartet based in McComb, Mississippi began in 1999 and currently consists of Joe Young (lead), Lane Reed (baritone), C. O. last year. We heard the demands of the people. The up-tempo piano style and dynamic vocal presentation evokes the spirit of revival in
southern gospel fans."
The southern gospel quartet Shepherds Call from McComb, Mississippi has a growing ministry in southwest Mississippi with a distinct
